Hi I’m Beth!
I live on a hobby farm in Smithfield, Utah. I have always had a passion for working with animals.
When I was 12 I started working on the Milky Way Dairy as a calf feeder. I eventually became the Calf Manager/General Ranch Hand. I ended up working there for 8 years! Kinda funny how working around cows got me into dogs. It seemed like everyone up there had a dog, so over the years I helped raise many puppies. I would bring them home, take them places, and always keep a few treats in my pocket to give them! My job there was one of the big deciding factors when I got Reggie, my black Labrador. He spent the first few years of his life coming to work with me on the dairy.
Reggie is my heart and soul dog. My professional dog training career began once I realized how fun it was to train with Reggie. He loved learning tricks, obedience skills, and of course water sports! Dock diving was his specialty. He knew how to make a big splash!
Reggie’s hobbies became my hobbies. He loved swimming so I became a swimmer and got into Stand Up Paddle-boarding to keep up with him on the water.
I have always loved art (especially animal art). Reggie got me into dog photography because I wanted to capture his beauty. He helped me master the art of photographing a black dog. He will forever be my main muse.
He enjoyed time in the mountains so we got into hiking. We logged a whole lot of miles together. He was definitely a “stop and smell the roses” kinda dog. Which was always a good reminder to slow down and enjoy the world around me.
Since Reggie was such a well behaved boy we were able to have so many fun opportunities over the years.
I credit Reggie for landing me an internship with a local dog training company. After the internship, I became the lead trainer/manager from 2019-2021. During this time I had the privilege of working with well over 800 different dogs and their owners! I became a certified dog trainer through the CCPDT during this time.
To maintain my certification, I am required to complete 36 continuing education credits within the 3 year certification period. I love this about the CCPDT. There is so much out there to learn! Some of the continuing education credit that I have done have included, Rattlesnake Avoidance through Positive Reinforcement from Eileen Koval, Canine Anatomy and Physiology from Sheilagh O’Sullivan, Rally Basics from Janice Dearth, Certified Trick Dog Instructor Course from Kyra Sundance, Rocket Recall from Simone Mueller, Nosework 120 from Julie Symons, and Canine Conditioning Programs from Anna Lee Sanders.
I love continuing my education and staying up to date with the latest research and modern dog training techniques.
My goal is to help as many people as possible gain the skills they need to be able to get out and enjoy life with their dogs!
